A painter paints pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence. — Leopold Stokowski | Let There Be Music I was going to say that things have slowed down at the farm, and for some it has. However, because the weather has continued to be exceptionally mild with no snow, outside work keeps getting done. The caragana hedges that have been wonderful windbreaks are getting cleaned out of dead wood. Now, they are looking nice and tidy. | Martin and James didn't stop with the major overhaul of the driveway and parking lot. They decided to do all the main roads on the farm. For a few days, big dump trucks were bringing in loads of crushed recycled concrete and dumping it on the back roads. The heavy loads proved that the newly-finished drive was properly done and could endure the traffic and weight of the trucks. The crushed recycled concrete base is watered as it's being spread. When it dries after being packed, it is as solid as cement, which is what the traffic proved. It'll be nice not to have mud on the roads when it's wet from melted snow, rain, or irrigation. | While the heavy equipment was music to James's ears, others were making more harmonious melodies. Kathy, the kids' piano teacher who can play at least 30 instruments, brought a trumpet for them to try. Mathijs liked it, but he enjoys trying new things. Marseilles is sticking with her piano. Because Konstantijn has become so proficient at piano and her next level of lessons was into uninteresting musical pieces, Kathy is giving her voice lessons. And K is becoming quite the singer, but still too shy to share with everyone. Now that the evenings are dark and the guys don't need to be working outside, they've picked up their instruments for jam sessions in the studio. Music is good for the soul. | It's hard to find convenience without some kind of compromise. But, at Harvest Haven, you don't have to worry about compromising. Victor's comments: The Voice of the Almighty God has arrested my being. He has consumed my soul for the past many decades. He has brought me through blood, sweat, and tears, through the valley of the shadow of death, of sorrow, suffering, fear, loss, defeat, humiliation, and failure. He said to me, "As you have been hated by many, so I will cause you to be loved by many." After nearly a lifetime, that promise has begun to be fulfilled. Now, I'm beginning to know victory, power, joy, and peace - life as I've never known it. He is delivering me from all my fears and has appointed me, my wife, and my companions to bring those same benefits to others, who will in turn bring them to others still. My dreams come true. How good is that? | | |
